Score Big With These Big Game Day Favourites!

Just another occasion I get to cook good food for my family and friends for Superbowl Sunday. I mean I’m a huge sports fan, although I’d take the Winter Classic over the Superbowl any day. I love the excitement of the glorious, delicious, touchdown worthy game day spreads us foodie lovers prepare. So, of course I want to share the perfect game day snacks with all of you out there. Huddle in, grab your wooden spoons and apron, you’ve come to the right place to make your super bowl party a WIN!

I think football has this misconception that we must make all things deep fried, and unhealthy, if the beer doesn’t leave you feeling sick, the high cholesterol, greasy dishes (and your team losing) likely will. I like to go a little lighter, without compromising taste.

Now, I don’t mess around when it comes to guacamole, it’s just one of those foods that makes people happy and really what’s the point of a party without guacamole? I’d like to think that I’ve mastered this simple avocado dip, my boys just eat it right up so I’ve learnt to make it often and to make lots of it. Ensure you purchase perfectly ripe avocados, don’t bother with anything less. The small Hass avocados yield the best results. Don’t be fooled by the larger ones that come from Florida! They contain more water. Acidity is key – lemon or lime; or both! I know not all of us can handle the heat, but avocados are plain in taste and require a little spice
